Yes, I've heard/read that it quietens things down before. I've got Magnatec in at the moment so it'll be interesting to see if HX7 has any effect on my KV6.

I've never heard of Mannol before - blimey, 20 litres for £30. That's three point something oil changes. I wonder if oil has a 'use by' date.

Recently used 5W40 fully synthetic in my diesel, engine seems less clattery than when run on 10W40 semi-synthetic.

If money is a consideration, Smith & Allen is a long established company and their 5W40 synthetic oil is an excellent choice for our cars and very good value.

I use shell helix HX7 in all my pre 2004 diesels and customers pre 2004 diesels and find it’s been brilliant, nice and quiet, it’s a good decent oil as mentioned by others

I use Home Bargains 10w40 it seems to have the same ingredients as the big players for around 1/3 the price.

I am curious to know how you know, given that the big players do not publish the ingredients of their oils.

I use Mannol it's a German company that have been around for a long time, it's really good quality oil they also do ATF that suits our cars too at a very reasonable price

I recieved some yesterday for the Volvo 5w30 fully synthetic A5 B5 low saps £32 delivered for 10 litres which is a very good price for that spec oil.
