Default Lpg

Morning all,

Still looking for the "right" CDTi estate. Having no luck though.

Started thinking about an LPG'd 2.5.

Does anyone run one and are there any plusses or minus' compared to the diesel.

I will be using the estate for towing a caravan.

Cheers

Steve

Hi, ive been running on lpg for 8 years/7cars and have just sold a ZT with lpg and just got a new one in a rare colour.
Ive allways been a petrol head and dont like diesels!
My ZT 190 does 29mpg on petrol and 24mpg on gas which works out to be the same as 48mpg! I dont think you will get that from a diesel and ive still got 190 bhp and the great V6 sound.

You'll get 48mpg from a diesel fairly easy in fact.....

What are you after in a tourer - amongst us we should be able to help you find one?

Personally I would say wait and hold out for a diesel!

I had a ZT-T Diesel and never got much more than about 40mpg, maybe 42-43 on a long run. I think you can get a bit more with a 75 with their narrower tyres.

I have LPG on my 260, main thing to be aware of is the system will need it's own servicing, check out local service agents and what systems they can service, they will tend to only deal with one or maybe a handful of different systems and wont touch the others, or, if you're up for it, get one that you can home service.

I've put 90,000 miles on my car with LPG and I haven't regretted it. You will need to learn where the filling stations are especially if you are traveling around, but there's plenty of websites around that can help you with that.

Thanks again for all the replies.

I'm after a Connoisseur (preferably an SE) CDTi pre facelift-I prefer the older ones.

Would prefer it to be automatic.

Price is not an issue if the right one comes along.

Cheers

You'll get slightly less through an auto - i believe the figures are 35-42. Out of an auto petrol I don't think it'd be pretty!

I used to get 44 out of my ZT with 18's, so the 17s with 215's on will no doubt make a difference.

Alot of it depends on what driving you do, mine is normally high(ish) speed motorway and a-road driving, with some country - only thing I will say is that around town you'll naturally get lower figures.

In a tourer you can fit a 77 litre tank...

No spare wheel of any value came with these cars anyway..

Mpg is reduced by about 7% if memory serves...but then it is half the price of petrol...

Never had to have mine fixed in 30k miles...

It aint perfect but give yourself a chance to get used to it....

Can't use the channel tunnel to get to France if your car runs on lighter fluid.
