Default traction control advise

Hello everyone
Jacspeed from Rome
I'm a MG ZT enthusiast, in addition to sedanI also bought thr ZT-T.
The Tourer has a problem, when the speed of 80 Km/h is reached, on dashboard appears " traction control " (in italian: contr. trazione). In this moment, loses power. However then the message disappears and then repeats itself later always on similar speed.
Can Your experience, help me?
Many Thanks

Very strange, does your car have traction control?

The only way I can see this happening is if your car does have traction control and for some reason the secondary throttle is closing then that would produce a lack of power.

Why it should happen at that speed I have no idea, if it were my car I'd disconnect the traction control activator and see if the problem goes away.

Regards

Thank you for reply.
I don't know if my ZT-T CDI has traction control or not, but that's what appears on the display...

Thumbs down

Certainly looks like the warning on the display - you need to get those lines fixed.

OK open the bonnet, follow the AC pipes going backwards towards the back engine wall. On the wall will be one of these mounted (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295150395...Bk9SR7DW9NDgYQ) with a plastic cable running to the throttle housing. Do you have one?

Regards

ps. Ignore the BMW description, the motors are the same

Hi Jacocagni,

This is an interesting thread so I've been reading about traction control in RAVE.

The secondary throttle actuator which Mike (vitesse) has mentioned is fitted to the KV6 engine which he and I both have. Your ZT-T won't have it. The diesel adjusts the fuelling to reduce engine torque. I don't know but I suspect that the ECM (Engine Control Module) achieves this.

The diesel ECM is susceptible to water ingress so the first thing to check is that it isn't sitting in standing water in the plenum due to the drain tube being blocked with organic matter.

Whoops - why do I think everyone has a V6? Perhaps because diesels are almost non-existent here, it's either a V6 or a 1.8T. Must learn to check.

yes Simon, I know the problem of the ECM in an unfortunate place. There is always humidity in place. She may have been wet during her lifetime. I freed the dirt and opened the water drain, but if I found a used ECM from a ZT CDT, could I simply replace it?
Many Thanks
Marco

Hi Marco, you cannot just swap the ecu, if you think it's a problem drop me a message I can supply a new one that will be plug and play for you
