Ok, thanks everyone for the advice.
I think I'll give Autoglym Bumper & Trim Gel a try, mainly because it's fast and I need to get this scuttle back on the car quickly. The whole drain tube/closing panel/scuttle episode is holding up much bigger jobs. Question for MacRob & bl52krz: do you use a foam applicator or a cloth to apply the Autoglym? Another question: the windscreen edge of the scuttle has a long rubber seal which is held in place by a strip of 6mm x 1mm (ish) double-sided foam tape. The tape on mine doesn't stay stuck any more - has anyone got a link to a suitable replacement? Last edited by Blink; 26th November 2020 at 11:51.. 3M do a good quality clear double sided sticky tape, I got some 6mm wide from ebay and it is impressive.

[QUOTE=Blink;2850503]Ok, thanks everyone for the advice.
Question for MacRob & bl52krz: do you use a foam applicator or a cloth to apply the Autoglym? I have used both but find a cloth better as the gel doesn't soak into the cloth as much as foam. My personal way to use it is to wear a disposable glove when applying as it can get onto your skin. Wont do you any harm but will leave marks on paintworks, cloth etc if you touch them before washing your hands

Does anyone know where I can get a length of new seal to match the original? (Someone mentioned a supplier earlier but I can't find the post now). Last edited by Blink; 30th November 2020 at 01:30.. |
