Are any of you lot going out tonight? I hate going out at New Year, I may be getting old but I'd rather be at home with a good book

I'm with you on that one Tony - the days of carousing (or should that read "boozing"?) 'til 6.00am on New Year's Day are gone now - they don't seem to hold much appeal somehow

Never been much of a drinker, couldn't even tell you when I last had one. Last time I had beer lying around it went out of date!

Not being a drinker I was never all that into the New Year thing and frankly I can't be bothered now. I know its boring but I'll probably be in bed watching telly at the usual time.

Not bad thanks Derek, spent the day cleaning out the cupboard under the stairs as it had lots of mould growing on the outside wall. I think the gable end needs repointing as we are getting patches of damp on the stairs and landing as well. Glad I don't have to pay for it

Your tourer is definitely worth treasuring Steve. My car has always been a workhorse - prior to me it had spent a lot of hours on motorways, and the stone chips on both the bonnet and roof were proof of that. The only way to get the finish to anything vaguely approaching that of yours would have been a complete, professional respray - an expense I couldn't justify.

By the way - your signature picture - that's Tregarton Park isn't it?

And to you and Jessica too Phil - here's hoping that 2016 is truly "onwards and upwards" - for you in particular.
