o rings
can I ask where to get these O rings from ? I've been having all sorts of problems with my v6. meaning I had to unclip the metal pipe that attaches to the front fuel rail. there was a little yellow O ring there which I have now managed to lose I have a box with pretty much every size of O ring available and found the size that fits the pipe, however when I clip the fuel pipe back in petrol gushes out when the ignitions on... is it a specific o ring I need or should I continue to let the petrol gush and set fire to the car ? in the very short time I've had the car I've had so many problems I'm sorely temped to do the latter

Perhaps your charcoal canister (collects vapour from tank) was full and it hadn't had the opportunity to purge itself. The workshop manual states that a smell of petrol may be noticeable in the cabin until the conditions for a purge are met. I'm not sure exactly what the conditions are but going for a long drive would probably sort it.

thanks for your reply. not sure if this kit would help. its a full set of injector seals. but its not an injector that's leaking on my car. my leak is where the fuel line clips into the front fuel rail, help in by a metal spring clip. or would one of the injectors O rings fit do you think ? Brett |

Hmm, this sounds like my problem. I'm going out to investigate this morning, but thought I'd do a bit of reading up first.
Mine is diesel, and the above cars seem to be 'petrols'. Could it happen to both? It is certainly a lot worse with mine when it is cold, you can literally see it dripping out from under the car, but when the engine warms up, it seems to stop altogether, to the point where a garage that I took it to couldn't even find a trace of a leak! Any advice appreciated. |

Typical, a day when I can try and do something about it, it's absolutely dry as a whistle!
Why would it leak sometimes, but not others? |

which is accessed via a cover with four Hex Hd.screws. In my case, the fuel line was leaking where it clips into the fuel unit. There was an obvious spillage over the unit which created the smell in the cabin. I hope this helps. Storman190+ |

Probably not this but its an easy/check fix if it is. When I bought my previous 75(R.I.P.) I filled the tank up on the second day of ownership and noticed a strong smell of petrol around the back of the car
. I was about to jack it up and do a thorough investigation but thought I'd do a little research on tinternet first-and thus I came across this wonderful website. I got my answer instantly and it was bang on correct. The securing ring for one of the fuel pump on one of the rear tanks had worked it self loose and had totally unscrewed itself off the tank all by it self! Every time I went round a bend petrol was sloshing out It only takes two minute to pull the rear seat squab up ,remove the inspection panels and take a peek to check the locking rings are doing their job. Hope you are sorted soon
