Neither tyre would have been my choice, but the Nexen apart from being a bit noisier than the Dunlops on Frosty seem quite capable

Praise indeed, I am a big fan of the N8000 Nexens a very capable tyre, not top class by any means but far removed from ditchfinders and a decent wet weather performance.

I have 4 nexen n8000's for the last 4 months, noisier than the Michelin energy savers but other than that crackin tyres, and £58 a corner balanced and fitted , also put the alloy gators on to protect the rims, great idea if you've got new alloys or freshly refurbed...

I'm after a set of 4 18" tyres. The tyre reviews web site is a good place to start, but even that is full of odd reviews.

the last two in the list have no reviews.

Id set a budget of £80.

I think unless there's a eureka moment or someone offers something unbelievable, I'll be trying the Barum, only in as much as they are partnered with Continental.

Falken Ziex ZE914 15 £88.89
Toyo Proxes T1 Sport 22 £96.00
Barum Bravuris 2 31 £75.00
Kumho KU31 44 £77.00
Nexen N6000 60 £61.00
Nexen N8000 62 £61.00
Federal SS595 90 £57.00
Maxxis Pro R1 NA £69.00
Barum Bravuris 3HM NA £92.00
From that lost personally I'd be looking at the Falkens, Toyo's (although they do have a fairly soft compound) and the Kumho's

Take a look at what prices Camskill are offering but bear in mind you'll have to arrange to get them fitted

TyreLeader seem to have some good prices also: http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/

Another idea is to check ebay.de; much cheaper than eBay UK but you need to factor in postage and fitting again

I did manage to get x4 18" tyres from eBay.de for my BMW E38 and they were £79 cheaper then in the UK and that was with postage and fitting!!!

As tyres are the only thing that actually keep you on the road, always buy the best you can afford!

I recently bought a set of Continental Sport Contact 5's for Ed and didn't want to simply write a cheque out for over £600 in one go, so went for the Blackcircles 12 month option, which after a small deposit, means that I now have a payment of just £50 for 12 months, in order to have decent tyres on the car!

I would also suggest that if you can't afford to spend £50 a month on your car for essentials like tyres, that you can't actually afford to run a car!

These were fitted to my car when I bought it. Had no problems with them, decent enough tyre imo. If thats the correct price theyve come down a bit over the last year or so, they were about £100 each last time I was looking.

I have just had 2 Landsail 225/45/18 fitted to the front of my ZT and find them a really good tyre in wet or dry conditions, they were £61 each fitted.
