If you can afford to buy and run one of those, you don't buy gash tyres for it Brian P.S. what brand are the four tyres you said you can buy for the price of one Michelin at Costco then? |

Four fitted for £160?, that seems awfully cheap still. I'm liking the E rating for wet grip Brian |

Brian , whilst in agreement with getting what you pay for , you can get some very sensible value tyres , if you TREAD carefully.
Seen some very scary 3-4yr old tyres mot failures ,split sidewalls on nexens the other day which was a shock , thread separation on a premium brand and several ruptured michelins. Have fitted literally 100s of Pace alventi tyres , in a 225 45 18 95w C rated for wet grip and fuel efficency , 72 db for noise , at £44.95 fitted inc Vat. Also had none returned with any issues and run our ZT on a set. Also preform better then the BF goodrich , second line bridgestones i had before. Kormaran , a second line michelin is also a decent option combining cost and quality. SO whilst you get what you pay for, the gap between a decent budget tyre and a premium is far narrower than it used to be. Anyone want any tyre prices , just drop me a pm. Andy

Not what I expected TBH, but apart from a slight increase in road noise, hang on in there quite well on wet greasy roads. Only covered 900 miles since they were fitted, but much better than this I will replace them with something a little better once the wheels come off for refurb though Brian |

I've picked up a set of hairpins to fit on the connie, once I get them refurbed, I need to look at tyres.
Geez, now I am back in my more usual confused state of mind. I don't do many miles, want a quiet comfortable ride, but also want a bit of re-assurance that I can stop when I need to. Trying to get my head round the classifications, fuel, grip, noise. Looked at these two, big difference in price, but the same classifications. http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyre...r18-95w-276273 http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyre...r18-95y-276050 So, how reliable are the classifications, do we know? Is paying twice as much for a branded tyre sensible? |
