Default 15th of May- North West region + convoy to North Wales meet.. :)

>>>a monthly meet will be held at The Hollow Tree in Stretton WA4 4LX on the third Sunday of the month commencing the 16th January 2011 at 12-00 noon<<<

So how about after the usual meeting on the 15th of May 2011, we then make a convoy down to Colwyn Bay sea front to meet up with our Welsh contingent??

We start the convoy from the Rompers car park at 1-00 PM.. (The Romper Inn:----Wilmslow Road--Ringway--Altrincham--Cheshire--WA15 8XJ )

Say 15-20 mins to the Hollow tree to pick up any members there.. (Hollow tree, come off the M65 at Jctn 10, take the duel carriagway on the South side for 300 yards then turn right into the lane leading to the Pub.)

Leave the hollow tree at 1-30 PM to arrive in Colwyn bay at 2-30.PM ish....

From "The Hollow Tree" - WA4 4LX - to Colwyn Bay is about 55 miles, so roughly an hours drive.

Once there we could split up and either take a tour round the "Great Orme, (something I haven't done) or go to see Conway castle (six miles further along the main "A55" road) and take loads of over-exposed photos (something I have done ) or anything else you may fancy. personaly I may get me deck chair out and spend the afternoon eating lil doughnuts (made on site) and just laze around on the sea front at Colwyn Bay.

We could then meet up again at a time to be agreed, either for a meal somewhere, or in readiness for a convoy back to our homes.

I will try to muster up some support from the Welsh lads n lasses..

Maybe Jimbo or Mike would try to gee up some support from our broader North West areas..

Basically, the idea is to make this a day out for anyone who cares to come along for a bit of food, fun, and sightseeing by the sea...

What-cha-rekon?? Anyone up for this??

EDIT:- For anyone who wishes to make their way direct to Colwyn Bay -- Come off the A55 at juctn 22. at the bottom of the slip road turn toward the sea front, then go left untill you come to a lil painted roundabout..then turn into the carpark on your right, there is a tea hut-cafe there and you should find plenty of parking spaces around...

Too far ahead to commit just yet but I could quite fancy this James, also I am thinking about arranging something up here around that time, I know it's too far for your 90min rule (maybe not the speed you drive) but it would be nice to see you up here

Hiya Col..

Geez it's a heck of a drive if you do take it on!! Be great to see you again though. Maybe Fred could join you and share the driving?

I'm hoping Jules is free for this event and that JohnDotCom will be up and about again by then. Plus any other Welsh members who fancy an afternoon-poss-evening out by the sea side...

I will try to find out what the tides doing for those who fancy a swim!!

Colwyn Bay is 85 miles from my place, due West.. Good road all the way there, usually takes me 75 to 90 mins dependant on who is in the car. But we have to make a pit stop to join the convoy at "The Hollow Tree Near Warrington. And from there the convoy leader will set the pace I imagine....

Looks a good idea James, rather like the idea of a cruise round the Great Orme - been to Llandudno loads of times but like yourself never driven round the Orme.

Great Orme Link

Keep us posted, looks like one for the diary.

Cheers
Jim

Sounds good to me James but, like 2diesels, it's too early for me to give a positive yes.

Didn't know they had any naturist beaches in North Wales.
