Default Caught an Incident On Your Dashcam?

The National Dash Cam Safety Portal (NDSP), which I have never heard of until now.

So, now you can upload dash cam footage to a website, where participating Police forces can take action.

I have mixed feelings about this.
On one hand, you can shop a complete twonk who you catch on your dashcam.
On the other, spying and reporting your fellow citizens to the authorities, remind me of an evil regime.

What are people’s thoughts?

A hot tip for anyone using this service, make sure that you have your own speed readout disabled.

mixed.
If you catch the person that drives like a twonk repeatedly then fine but you may also catch someone that makes a single mistake.

A look at the web site, a down side is that you have to submit your details when submitting video. it is a shame the video itself is not good enough

I would only report where the perceived wrongdoing is obviously intentional and significant, e.g. driving on a motorway hard shoulder in order to avoid queuing traffic, and not for actions due to lack of concentration etc.

What we need are more police officers on the streets.

Mixed feelings but I'm uneasy about all this film everything and tell the government about relatively trivial things.

I think some people need to learn to take things in their stride more.

But that is never going to happen. Instead, there will be more highly paid people appointed to cut police numbers further as part of another "efficiency drive"

well, if you need to disable or blank out your speed readout, should you be uploading footage anyway. I am NOT looking for a row. Just my own opinion.

Anyone who feels the need to use a dashcam, or indeed upload the resultant footage to a website should really get a life.

And yes I do mean that, get a life......I was given a Rover 75 that had a dashcam fitted, and it was the very first thing to be removed and binned.

To put it into context, the owner of said car was involved in an RTA where the footage clearly showed the third party come around a blind corner on the wrong side of the road in a tatty white transit, and proceed to carve along the entire offside of the 75 writing it off in the process.

The insurers having "reviewed??????" the footage came to the conclusion that this wasn't sufficient to apportion blame to the third party

So what is the point of these devices in reality, other than to add yet another layer of interest to Russian idiot drivers on YouTube

Does it show that I'm not particularly keen on these devices

Yes, I agree with you.
I can see that a speed readout could also capture bad driving from up-loader of the footage.
I wonder how many road rage / pursuit footage they will get, resulting in a double "nick".

That is the answer, in my opinion.
There is a big difference between policing and law enforcement.
