Default Roof Lining

May be it's been the hot weather or , perhaps just age , BUT all of a sudden the ceiling in my Tourer is starting to look like a tent as the roof lining flows down. It's a bit like looking at the underside of clouds growing! Now I know this arises from the daft foam layer between the upper bread board and liner turning to dust and breaking away BUT , from some study across the web , it seems a rather large project to refurbish things. Seems I have to remove the bread board , strip off the falling liner and failing foam and possibly re-glue the lot. Some say that a spray glue is no use , that any glue may come through the liner and show inside the car etc etc. Possibly this task calls for a specialist.
does anyone have any success in this area or know of a specialist who can work the wonder and give me a like new / will last result?
thanks

Hi Roger.
I would go down the road of changing the roof lining from another car, quite a bit of work but best way in my opinion.

I have exactly the same problem, temporarily held back literally with screw pins. Consulting with restoration specialists it would appear that total removal and replacement of the headliner is the only real option. High temperature spray adhesive is readily available as is the material. I have also found on YouTube a guy who fixed a syringe needle to the spray adhesive nozzle and injected through the cloth in small sections at a time. Clearly a lot easier than full removal but even he said there is risk of some glue seeping through. Looking to do the full refurb myself but as you say a big project, particularly without a garage!

Smile Thanks and a ref

My thanks to Arctic ( Steve) and also JerseySteve for good advice. I am off to breakers tomorrow to , hopefully , remove a full roof lining but I also thought I'd post up a ref to an effective full 'how to renew a roof lining' I came across. It is at http://forums.mg-rover.org/mg-zs-rov...roject-844786/ and covers the full process. May have a go at this some time as a mini-project.
On a separate point , no one yet responded to my thread / query regarding how to get a permanent fix for my Tourer tailgate handle that has dropped off. I think I am going to remove the tailgate lining and use a nut /bolt approach rather than relying on wretched self taping screws from the outside since they keep failing!
All the best.
