LOL! Fun and games.
There is nothing quite like welding under a car and having a hot spark go into your ear. The sound of sizzling ear wax isn't one you soon forget.

Makes me glad my implanted defibrillator has stopped my welding adventures!

Well that has been a busy week and the Spice didn’t get look in.
Last Thursday my daughter called on her way over to pick her mum up. Dad the blue car sounds terrible. She was on the back road about five miles from us two villages away, no lights telling her bad things, so I told her to bring it over and take the Rover saloon.
On inspection the Focus had shredded two thirds of its main fan belt.
Had many family commitments, so it would be Sunday before I got to the car.
Replaced the belts and went to bring the saloon back into the drive, no power steering, could this be the third fan belt in two months?
Had a good look fan belt not turning sometimes ordered up water pump and tensioner. Daughters husband is in bed not well so PaPa is doing the dads job. Won’t get to the saloon till Thursday afternoon.
Fixed the drop link that had been annoying me since the garage last had the car. Investigated the belt problem. Well that’s a new one on me crank pulley failure. Phoned the man in the red and white van and caught the quarter past one delivery. When Wendy arrived the car was stripped waiting by 3pm everything was back together and I had checked over the car. I will need to do discs and pads all around and change the track rod ends before her Test in July, I have all the parts, but it keeps me from the Spice, and my old bones are not up to this abuse.

Fixed the -30 degrees air temperature. Went looking for the sensor only to find just a plug behind the bumper. Sensor plugged in and now the car tells me what I already knew - its cold.

Then I really must be a nutter, car type. When I had my Daimler V8 250 Saloon, late 1970s, I went out to go to work around seven o’clock in around a foot of the white stuff. Got the snow off the windows, and turned the ignition on and went to start the car and slight whirr from starter and nothing else. Oh poo. Could not afford to lose time from work, so got my old overcoat on and proceed to get under car to remove starter. Found out that the bendix had broke, probably because it was so cold.where I still live it was called ‘little siberia’, still is. Managed to rummage about in the shed after getting rid of a snowdrift of three foot, and found another bendix drive spring to fit. Got to work about 12 o’clock feeling quite pleased with myself, especially as some people had not turned up. Nutter.......oh yea.

I've started using my drill pump now when I do the oil change,it does suck it all out,but saves messing with the undertray and jacking up,so a lot quicker to do.

Met up with MarinaBrian, and his wonderful dog Alfredo.

Fish and chips, a bracing walk along Seaton Carew beach, and Brian doing his usual helping hand with a replacement headlight bulb for my CDTi.

Thoroughly enjoyable, as I knew it would be.

Thanks Brian and Alfie

After my mate did the boot to show what could be done I did my first bit of clay baring, just N/S wing . Quite impressed with the results lot of light swirl marks removed and so smooth.

Turtle Wax jet black polish and cabuna wax to finish.

Car needs a wash before I do the rest though.

I'm always prepared to be disappointed John - I'm more worried about the risk of damage. Perhaps I'll do some more investigation (i.e. decide later ).

Lower Arms... Me too, I bought a set last September and haven't got up the initiative to install them yet. I'm hoping work will get shut down due to the virus so I can get around to them.

That Turtle Wax black polish is great stuff. They have a kit that includes a clay bar, detailer black tinted spray and carnauba wax. that made my black Freelander look fantastic. I wish they did a red kit for my ZT.
