mg-rover.info
I haven't been able to access the website for a few days and keep getting a "The requested URL / was not found on this server" message. Tried different browsers but still the same, so does anyone know if this is a temporary issue or if the site has gone forever?

It does go offline for a while sometimes, hopefully they are adding the missing Cowley data 🤣

Still down. What about taking ownership of the records and hosting the site somewhere ? I think it is a piece of history with a huge amount of infos that can't be lost !

The club was gifted the database on the understanding that it be used on a one to one basis to club members who wanted info on their cars. So we did and still do to any member who sends me a PM with their VIN number.
Then about six months later, that website appeared which as far as I know was set up by Steve Child’s, the former owner of MG.rover.org and allowed anyone to look up any VIN. While it’s a free site, I seem to recall it carried ads so would have probably been a source of income to the site owner? Maybe that’s why it’s no longer running Anyway, the site has no connection with the club, but members can still PM their VIN number and I’ll gladly still look up their build data provided it’s listed |

When you said---that website--- did it have a name as I can see no mention in the rest of this thread?? |
