I had to get my pulley changed. I tried, unsuccessfully, to do it myself. I then took it to a Rover specialist in Pevensea who were unable to do it. Eventually, I found a garage in Eastbourne, South Coast Garage Services who specialise in BMW and Landrover group vehicles. They did the job for a fair price using an induction coil and loads of grunt.

some remarks:
- I replaced all the timing belts and tensioner 10k miles ago (maybe it should be better to change the pulley that time, by I am not an expert, and the mechanic should have advised me, but he did not)

some questions:

1) the code number LGH100750?

2) any suggestion about brand?
I found ijs at 40£

3) if I change the pulley I need to change the timing belt?

4) estimated cost for labour by mechanic?
Your diesel doesn't have a timing belt.--It has a chain which normally lasts the life of the engine.---

The other two drive belts at that low mileage should be perfectly OK.

Good move Steve!
Not many people would bother to do that.

A good garage should be able to change the pulley in less than an hour.

You belts will be fine, no need to renew them unless they are damaged.

To be precise there are two timing chains.

Yes worth replacing both auxiliary belts when changing the pulley, and use decent branded belts - Gates come well recommended.

Steve that's the lower timing chain and the oil pump drive chain which of course isn't timed - what happened to the upper timing chain - is that the engine that broke the cam followers?

Hi Mike.
Yes the same engine that smashed the cam followers, no sooner i took the cam cover off.
1

You could see the cam followers were smashed.
2

Chain was in tact and could see no damaged to it, when discussed with Brian the only conclusion we could come to it and thrown the timing out somehow.
