On closer inspection I have the silver resistor. (Would post a picture but not sure how to yet).
Done the demist test, the fan does not come on. I can hear a hum from the fan location. Does that suggest the resistor needs replacing?

Thanks to the forum for all your help so far!

Hi guys, what is the radiator directly behind the fan? Is that the AC rad/condenser?!
Mines missing at least 50% of its fins!

Hi Gavin.
Yes it's the condenser, it sounds like you need a new one, so it's bumper off, slam panel off, fan off and replace, before replacing you would have to de-gas your A/C if you have any in if not then your ok.

I'm pleased that you've found the problem Gavin which incidentally I suggested to you in post no. 3.

Cheers Arctic, had the front off yesterday to change the resistor to a gold one AC might be beyond my ability though, will have to outsource that!

@simon you where absolutely right! Think I’ll get it degassed until I can repair it to take the strain out the system.
