Default problem with highline satnav

i tried to take the disc out of my sat nav when i pressed the ejection button it started making whirring sounds but it didn't eject the disc now when i press the eject button absolutely nothing happens no sound whatsoever plus now when i turn on the satnav the screen reads no disc what have i done wrong help please

You've done nothing wrong Geoff. It's saying "no disc" because the laser cannot read it and that's because the mechanics haven't placed the disc in the correct position. I had the same problem a few years ago. Lubrication didn't solve it. In the end I had to transplant the disc drive from another unit.

I've had similar problems with the drives in a hi-fi CD player and DVD home video recorder. I've concluded that they're not built to last which, as things have turned out, appears to have been the right commercial decision at the time.
