But would that really be a pre-requisite? Performance-wise, I can't see a problem. We're talking, I don't know, 8-9 seconds to 60 for the Jag and nearer 11-12 for my motor? Truth be told, I find driving my Rover similar to driving a barge, where you have to pre-empt everything, in hitting the throttle 2 seconds earlier than you normally would, it's that under-powered (but in good tune). Moving up to a 2.5 would be a good move, but I'm not sure I see the future in it. A bit more grunt, with similar fuel consumption?

Have to say that the closer that XFR's get to £10K, the more tempting they get! |

Mrs mininuts and I were talking, only this afternoon, about what we would replace the ZTT with, apart from another ZTT.
We both said the only car worthy, that we can tell, would be an XF Sportbrake You can keep your Mundanoes, Passats etc etc Having said that, I've absolutely no intention of changing the ZTT for the foreseeable future at least

I'm not convinced the 75 is an upgrade, at least at 2.0 level. In fact, it simply isn't, performance-wise, imo.

Make a list of what you want and stick to it. One of my close friends bought one of the latest XKs and replaced it with a new Aston Martin Vantage...but shhhhh don't tell him, but frankly the XK is a better car. Automatic switchable box, very quick, good to drive no heavy clutch.....mmmmm Good luck in hunt Chris |

Wow, that's a nice thought; one that hadn't occurred to me. The trouble is, the mega mileage. I saw an R type, but 200k miles? I don't know. I keep thinking "car for the money"!

Is it cost that will drive your decision or performance? If it's cost then remember you've had 11000 miles for £2200 (+fuel) from the 75. Spending £10,000 on an XF you'd expect to get.... 50 thousand miles without any further cost except what you save on fuel (though if you are going to use that performance don't expect the 47mpg being quoted by Parkers!).
Performance-wise is 0-60 that important to you? Are you really going to floor that XF and get that 6-8 seconds time more often than not? I doubt it, you'll probably be using somewhere around what you'd get out of a 190 without even using full throttle on the 190. Go trade your 2.0 v6 for a a 190 and pocket the £9000 saved to spend not only on fuel and servicing but on tarting it up, drive it like it's meant to be driven (yes rev it!). You could always have a 'performance evaluation reset' by going and driving any normal (no hot hatches!) 1.4 for a month.... Of course if you just fancy having a Jag and have £10,000 to spend for a more 'modern' car and fancy the XF then buy it - the heart wants what the heart wants after all. Myself I quite like the XFs and would have one if they came down to the level of a top price 75/ZT (excluding v8 and dealers with more hope than sense) - But I'd prefer the XKR
