number plate lights

hi guys
i am having trouble with one of my number plate lights i thought the near side bulb had blown,bought a new one replaced it only to find it would not light fiddled around with it and it lit,but then went out after about 2 mins fiddled with bulb again and it lit but guess what yes went out again
any ideas

The bulb holder assembly is flimsy and prone to corrosion. Best open it all up and do a little housekeeping and maintenance.
