Google background images

Why have google suddenly decided to spam my google homepage with irritating images?!

Anybody know how to remove them? I'd rather have a white background as before. There only answer they give is to login but I don't have an account and don't want one. What to do?

you can use https://www.google.com/ however not UK only searches.

Some bright spark best be fired over it....

I like to restrict things to UK only so that rules out the beta.com, plus it's still beta.

The image is coming from "http://www.google.co.uk/images/background/" or "/images/background" and appears to have a script for selecting what file in that folder. Is there any way of making IE block specific locations and not just a whole site?

ok.... it's now gone back to standard white. What was all that about?! Somebody musted have messed up seriously.
