Mine comes up with land rover not really tried to change it yet, have burned updated maps that work ok,
Think mine cannot be done as the firmware is not the same as the bmw one due to having a compass mode.

Even if you have the latest version you can load a version prior to the one you want and then upgrade to the latest version with splash screen, it just won't let you reload the same version that is already loaded. Be careful with a mk3 they are very easily bricked, I know, I've done it.

Default splash screen

Ive managed to tamper and change the splash screen and also change the upgrade number with the hex in ps pad as described.
But the problem im having is when you then save the bin/is/cue whatever you call it. (lets just say the file) using ultra iso.

Then you go to imgburn to burn it it becomes a mode1. Ive tried rebuilding it with imgburn into a mode 2 /form1 which it does no problem, and then burning to cd, which again it does no problem.
But when I put it into the nav drive it just spits it out again and says wrong cd or something.
The problem to me I think is because ultraiso is turning it into mode 1, the me having to convert it back to a mode 2 using imgburn.
The other thing I stumbled upon when reading the bmw forums is that they mention a cd key which you also put on a disc and insert after the upgrade, can someone confirm this part.
I feel I'm close, to achieving it ,
here is another good guide hopefully its okay to link if not can a mod remove it please

The links for downloads do work on the link.

Default splash screen

Right guys ive sussed this much out its definitely the ultraiso converting the file into mode 1 then me using imgburn to convert back to mode2 as ive went from this.

to this,

without any conversion, I will get there. lol

You might start a new trend for BMW engined Rovers with that splash screen

Default splash screen

Im still no further forward on this , well sort of. I can now change any file in the upgrade and write the disc. put it in the navi and it just seems to brick it. i.e. no red light on the navi unit anymore, but still ejects. Easily fixed by just putting the unaltered bmw cd back in and it sorts itself back out.

In the guides it does say that you change the gif (picture) by changing the file within the 0116 folder . Is this related to the hardware ? cause ive noticed that theres also a file 0127, which if I go into the settings of the equipment there is 0127 mentioned. I think im close but now fearing im gonna completely brick the navi unit.

Has no one got the files we need that they can share ?
Cheers.
