Before this gets removed to be upgraded....

Before being retrofitted to my ZT, this was originally fitted to a V Reg 75, and has the Trip Computer Option:

Note only one digit different to the unit Thomas has, and that's for the hardware level.

BM24 more likely, which behaves identically as BM54 regarding dual tuner and TMC capabilities.

As for the SW and HW revs of my boardmonitor, will check and report back when I'm back home in a couple of days (off on vacation, but with the other car at the moment).
However, a couple of comments :
- my launch car DOES show the Trip Computer option, however the data inside that screen is always missing. However my system has been upgraded to BMW MK3 and then MK4, so this might be the reason. However, when I had the original MK2 drive, the option was there too, only data was also missing if I remember correctly. Can't be 100% certain of that anymore, yet pretty sure.
- the boardmonitor being a passive unit (except for the controls), only displaying what it is told to do so by the nav drive, I fail to understand how HW and/or SW revisions of the monitor could have an impact on the Trip Computer option actually showing up or not. Would love to understand it though
- if Phil-T4 could also explain why, sometimes, on my system, I have the Aux.heater/ventilation option popping up from time to time, which other Launch Car owners seem to suffer from as well...
- I had a 16/9 unit for a very limited run of time (don't have it anymore). With the 16/9 unit, the behavior was identical.

by the way Paul, I can tell you that car #100001, which was sitting with us at Gaydon back in April, does NOT have the Trip Computer option...as I checked it out myself, if you remember me asking the keys to the car

Rather than a SW/HW revision of the monitor, my assumption has always been that there had been an IPK revision very early in the production process, to allow that trip computer information from the message centre IPK to be transferred over to the K-bus so that the nav computer could use it. Hence why very early cars, and especially launch ones, do not have the feature present...even though it is present in the nav manual and in early tech litterature.

edit : might be useful for folks to also report HW/SW revisions of their IPK, using the diagnostic mode on IPK (values are in 1.5)

I have Highline on both my launch car #101540 and my 2003 ZT
I have the trip function on the message centre and Bordmonitor on the ZT but not on the launch car.
The launch car menu offers options of GPS Navigation, Television and Aux. Heating.
I swapped my Mk2 drive for a later Mk3 drive but still with the same options afterwards.

I haven't checked the production data on my launch car screen but I will do, do we think it is just the head unit that is the different part of the system?
