Negatives,we haven’t been on holiday with the caravan, I haven’t been able to see my friends for our quarterly get together, wasn’t able to give my mum a hug until the “bubbles” were formed . I have lost my part time coach driving job due to no work, also my new business venture has had to be curtailed due to not being allowed to visit other peoples’ houses. Had a mental breakdown due to stress of things happening in my private life which was made worse by COVID. Positives? I spent every day with my wife for several weeks during first lockdown.

Talking

It has prompted me to test my eyes by going for a drive and there is nothing wrong in doing so following the example as set and supported by the expenses fiddlers.

We're very lucky to be honest. I've not stopped working throughout it all, except time booked off, business ticked over with orders for USA and China throughout lockdown. Once the UK started to open up again we've been busy, struggling to keep up with demand, and working overtime. The company I work for (though not the plant I work in), struck lucky really as they'd been developing a product to be used in the making of hand sanitisers and the like. They got the breakthrough with the formulation around the start of March. So that plant has been working 7 days a week (normally only 5) and worked straight through their normal 2 week summer shutdown for maintenance, with maintenance being done as and when they could free up the equipment.

My wife is a teacher at a private school, she had to keep working through it all, teaching via google classroom, while looking after our own 3 children getting the eldest 2 to do their school work, and the youngest being 3 is quite demanding.

Still managed a week in the caravan in the summer, did most of the things we wanted to do, just had to pre-book and wear masks when appropriate.

Neither of us really socialise at all so nothing changed for us there. Though we did make good use of the eat out to help out.

Negatives, only seen my Dad twice this year, kids swimming lessons cancelled, started for a few weeks then cancelled again. Saxophone and karate clubs and cubs all having to be done online

We are both retired, so no change In income, in fact have been spending less (£25 back from Admiral on the car insurance even)

But 91 yr old mother in law lives alone over 100 miles away so that’s a worry. Both daughters and all grandchildren live locally, but not able to see them currently.

Did all the decorating in lockdown one, so doing a lot of reading and walking.

The charity I volunteered at renovating tools is closed, as is the theatre I volunteered at.

The band I play bass in is dormant, but I have done quite a bit of remote recording, and the church band is still functioning with live streaming, which is enjoyable.

So not really badly affected, and both daughters and sons-in-law are able to continue working, so that’s not too much of a worry.

I really feel for those businesses who are struggling let alone failing, and of course for future generations who will be picking up the country’s tab for years to come.

Busy as hell. Food packaging business has gone nuts. Very fortunate to have ended up in an industry which is well positioned. My wife was furloughed for 9 weeks, back at work now and garden looks lovely!
Can't see either of my grandkids, one born in June in Brussels so thats out of the question.
However we have learned to live with it a day at a time.
In the meantime, mask, sanitize, distance and stay at home if you can. People spread the virus.
Here endeth today's sermon.

Been a part timer for ages now and could have retired 5 years back , but was worried how I would deal with retirement ? .

But recently been fuloughed twice, still am at the mo', and its been like a practice retirement for me , and got quite used to it !.

Needed the the time off too, to deal with all the aftermath of my parents passing .

Default How to begin.

As many know, I lost my Aunt on the 26th April to the virus in Wigan hospital, my brother messaged me to say she'd passed away, eighteen days later on the day of her funeral my brother also died. I then lost my job at Wigan Athletic due to them going into administration and so, I'm earning nothing and qualify for no handouts. I've been selling stuff for income and it's been going OK.
I've not caught the virus and I got my eyesight back this year so that was a plus, the unlucky ones are those who are not here, those that are can take that one fact alone as proof of a good year. We'll all bounce back into routine at some point, I hope to be safe and well until then.

Here's a thing. The problem for our business at the moment is getting hold of corrugated cartons. Such have the online business flourished they all need boxes to put things in. We now have to wait 4 weeks for deliveries, used to be 7 days! Lucky I stocked up as one did with loo rolls not so long ago after a tip off.

Good things. Not caught anything which is vital when you're old.---No money problems.

Bad things.--Got the news just yesterday that my daughter and grand daughter have caught Covid 19.

Have a large family. Around 38 bodies but these are the first two. I hope it stays that way.
