Crikey Phil, that's very similar to my father, but my father had left it too late, he never wanted to go into hospital, so he nursed himself along for so many years, silly begger, he would still be with us now if he had listened to the doctor's.

I'm hanging in there Phil, but going private would cost me something like 6k to 8k, bit extreme I thought. That money could be put to better use, I must be a tight ass.

When is your Surgery Phil?

Good morning Wes,

I am guessing your dad was from the old school when people didn’t talk about health or admit to having any illness. I Will know more about a date for the op once I have been given the all clear by the cardiologist.

At the moment, I am self funding all of my outpatient appointments. An appointment to see a specialist ranges from £120-£300. Not cheap.

How are your activities of daily living? Wes, how is your mental health?

After I had the femoral bypass in the leg, the whole leg was ultra sensitive and not even a bed sheet could touch it. As recovery progressed, this hypersensitivity to touch gradually disappeared.

Yes after the orchi my nerves were hypersensitive Phil, I had some very weird pains all over my body, it took about 6 months to fully settle. Now I'm 18 months post surgery, I can say the orchi surgery has partially worked on my right side, but I'm still left with what we believe is pain from the remainder of the cord, due to having a simple orchiectomy, they leave the cord behind.

Silly really, as they originally diagnosed me with neuropathic pain, but they gave me a simple orchiectomy, when it's documented under urology and neurology to ligate the cord as high as possible at the inguinal region, this is called a radical orchiectomy, this then addresses the neuropathic element, so why they didn't give me a radical orchiectomy in the first place is beyond me.

Also, why they don't address the remaining one, why leave me in pain for so long, sort them both using the inguinal approach, job done.

My daily living is non existent Phil, I rarely go out of the house, my social life is non existent. I cant sit down, I cant stand up, I mostly have to lay down, as laying down eases the pain, often stops it completely.

My mental health is obviously suffering, I've lost interest in my cars, I don't drive them anymore, I no longer go out and enjoy them and take photos like I used to. I cant do anything anymore Phil, I cant even do the gardening or DIY around the home, all I do is laydown and sleep, and that carries it's own health risks.

My wife Tracey has become worried, she has contacted the hospital several times, but they obviously don't care, they don't even have a date for my surgery, they just say I'm not classed as an emergency. My GP has said to go private, but the cost is just too extreme.

There's just nowhere to turn Phil, I just feel my life is not important, even though I'm suffering, I feel the care system is broken.

Fully sympathise Wes, probably a couple of years ago I began to notice a lack of energy. I used to regularly walk to a local supermarket, 3-4 miles, then doing it one day I realised I was knackered and had to stop for a rest. Kinda gone downhill from there, my interest in things I used to love doing has gone, just no energy or enthusiasm. I have a liver problem (not through alcohol) and discovered the liver isn't just a filter, its involved in hormone control. Seems the liver is still performing its main function at the expense of everything else it does. Despite my telling the liver specialist in a pointless telephone consultation what was going on all I got was "Yes, that can happen"! Eventually had enough and saw my GP who organised a blood test which revealed my testosterone level is in the basement. Waited months for an appointment with the endocrine department who reckoned a testosterone gel was the answer, brilliant . . . . after I've jumped through even more hoops He needs to speak to the liver mob, organise a scan . . . . been scanned more often then the Starship Enterprise! Hoping that I get on this testosterone gel and it makes a difference to my energy levels because I'm not living at the moment I'm just existing.

Sorry to hear that Steve, and I know how you feel with regards to jumping through hoops, and my team keeps moving the goal posts.

Ref: Testosterone, I knew my problem wasn't due to low testosterone, my issue what is stopping me from living is the pain, I avoid most tasks because it's too painful.

Since the orchiectomy I've had my testosterone levels checked three times now, last check was last month and it's still normal, this is why they are reluctant to remove my remaining one I guess.

I was told before the first surgery that my T's may drop, this can happen in some men, but usually the remaining one picks up the slack and does the job of two, and this is exactly what mine is doing.

Obviously having a second orchiectomy will make my T levels plummet, but taking TRT isn't a big deal, a friend of mine takes it to build muscle.

I just wish I could go have the surgery tomorrow, the sooner the better.

Hi everyone, hows things?

I thought I would pop in and give an update, it has certainly been awhile.

Sadly I'm still having a rough time of it, still in terrible pain, lots of ups and downs. I had my third surgery March this year, the docs went back in to remove a cord like structure, some nerves, blood vessels etc. I'm now six months post op and getting back to normal, the surgery has helped a little, but has caused some other weird pains; so gotta go back to see what they can do.

To cut a very long story short... Loosing my right one has got rid of my original right side pain, this is super brilliant news, but now I seem to have this other pain going on, which must be a side effect from the previous surgeries, I have what seems to be some nerve pain trigger from the inguinal region.

The downside to all of this is... I'm still suffering pain on my left side (the left nut), there's been no change there, so that's both sides of the scrotal region and groin, and pain down both legs.

Then to make matters even worse, it looks like I'm going to need a hemorrhoidectomy, I could may well be suffering from Pudendal Neuralgia, the PN nerve is being compressed in some way.

So guys, if you don't mind me asking, don't be shy... but has anyone here had their piles sorted, a hemorrhoidectomy?

Has anyone got any advice?

Nice to see you back but sorry you are still having a tough time of it.
Nothing I can offer in the way of help/advice other than to say that I hope you turn a corner soon .

Thank you Jeff, very much appreciated. I hope so too, surely there's an answer somewhere. I'm yet to be seen in neurology, seems urology refer me to neurology, but the referrals keep getting rejected, the NHS system is failing me.
