Just out of curiosity, does the tachometer needle move when the engine is being cranked? |

Will follow this thread
As mentioned, cranksensor and maybe camsensor also? I have a working cranksensor I can send to you for testing. The wiring on this one is bodged up, but will work for testing. Migth have a working cranksensor also, but need to check. Have you tried some easystart (startgass) in the inlet? The engine shall fire then if you have spark. Does the exhaust smell petrol? Absolutely sure that you have got the timing correct? Can you feel compression by turning the engine by hand? |

Been trying to connect the TOAF today, and got this error message when trying to open engine module
"Access violation at address 004E1B05 in module Toaf.exe Read of address 00000001." ?????? Am i missing some drivers? The Toaf web site seems to be down today, or can someone send me the files? |

No immobilizer light at all, and my remote for locking doesn't work.
I was fiddling with fault seeking and discovered that the front VIS motor was hot? Removed it with ignition off, and it was still running, and didn't stop till i removed the connector. Plugging it in again it didn't run, but starts turning the ignition in? |

Ivar, has the key been taken apart in connection with this fault?
It sounds as if you'll need to repair or replace your VIS actuator but that won't stop the engine starting. Quote:

I’ve replied to your Toaf question on other media.
Do you have another key / does that operate the remote locking? Does the red light flash when you press either button? Sounds like your VIS motor has overrun, the originals unlike Stocktake motors have no built in stop. Talking of which, I have some refurbished Stocktake motors at home as I supply many owners in Sweden. They are at cost and tested at least three times before dispatch. Bit different here (than UK) as I supply the motors and ask the owner for the old one back later so they don’t have the car off the road longer than necessary. Never been let down with this routine. You can test both VIS motors with Toaf, once you get it running. Regards |

Please correct me if you think i am completely wrong her.
Symptoms: -Engine cranks normaly with no engine warning lamps -compression felt out of exhaust ( engine is overhauled by the book) - no ignition, tested with old plug on one of the leads and with a stroboscope lamp. -fuel pressure all the way to the injectors, first tested disconnecting the bayonet spraying my t-shirt and by depressing the pressure test connection with the ble cap. - Fault seeking i discovered that the fwd mounted VIS motor was hot, unscrewed motor housing an the motor started running, the heat came from to much resistance from the flappervalve? Inside the inlet manifold. Tried by hand and must have been to hard for this small motor. Having the vis motor out of the manifold, and electrically connected, it starts running when i turn ignition on and just keeps on running for about 5 minutes before it stops. -Revcounter reacts when cranking. Fault codes observed using a Foxwell scanner ( havn’t got the TOAF working properly yet) P0340 P1477 P1473 P0155 P0152 Had to tell my scanner this was a Freelander 1 V6 to get some codes Now the big question: Do i have a suspect ECU, giving these symptoms? And thanks to you all for tips |
