rover 75 saloon

Default rear brakes cost

I have just been charged £100.00 labour by my local Garage in rural Cambridgeshire to fit rear pads and discs to my 1.8 Rover 75 does this seem about right?........thanks Stuart

That seems excessive, unless the calipers were seized, it should only take about 1/2 hour a side tops. So either they were really slow,or they charge mega bucks for their hourly labour rate. Was vat included in that ? Have you an itemised invoice?

My local mechanic sats he would do mine for £40 including sorting syspected siezed calliper, which ive checked and is not infact siezed, he also says the slightly damaged bolts are not a problem

£100 does seem very high. How long did it take them and did they do anything else?

Just out of interest what make was fitted, as prices for parts vary tremendously, from very very cheap, to damn expensive!!(Depending upon make and country of origin)??

Jobs done:
Purchased 52 plate V6 connie Wedgewood blue,one owner,42000 on clock ,Virtually pristine.2017 service,new Goodyear tyres,Discs and pads all round,new battery,New cam and timing belts (3rd fitting in life of car),plus full normal service.exhaust 2016.First mod was to bonnet catch .Latest mod,triple heart pace maker. All brake lines changed for copper, all brake hoses changed for Pagid hoses.

For £40, I was thinking of booking my car in even though it doesn't need new brakes!
