Boot leak.... Again.
Morning.
I do hope Freelancer doesn't mind me stealing his thunder. But this is defiantly worth a bump. Iv had all th below 6 problems and cured, but then found his help most grateful. Th 7th seam leak.. I hadn't cured but I have now with his help and th use of captain trollys creeping crack cure.. Hope his previous post below of freelancer I had is of help to all.. This was the result of damp/water in the boot that I investigated in my 75 at the beginning of the year Possible Areas of Water Leaking into Boot Space: now reads, (in no particular order).. 1) Windscreen: broken or leaking retaining clips (8 off) along bottom edge of rear windscreen... 2) Light: rear lamp housings (gasket split, too thin or gone)... 3) Chrome strip: rear chrome body strip's inside plastic fasteners not sealing... 4) Sunroof: blocked or dislodged drain tubes to rear of sun roof 5) Hinges: bolt holes at boot lid hinge 6) Quarter light: leaks at holes for trim piece at end of rear quarter light blanking plate... AND LAST IN THIS LIST, BUT NOT THE LEAST:... 7) Metal Seams: insufficient seal at metal bodywork seams below rear window. This was the culprit in my case having, at various points, been persuaded it was one of the others above. Just a pinhole sized gap in the facory applied sealant was enough for all the water that cascades off the rear windscreen to find its way through the panel joins and, (if the car was at a slight lean), drip into interior recess at a point below where the hinges for the boot lid are attached. It was picked up by a knowledgeable Auotoglass person whom I had taken the car to with a view to asking to (help) take off chrome and rubber rear windscreen strips. A small bead of silicon on the seam at the site of the tiny hole has done the trick. I have a pic, will try. And of course don't forget the side vents that are hidden behind the bumper on the outside and the boot liner on the inside.

Looks as though you've cracked it but has anyone considered condensation. Consider, open boot on a warm day, boot now full of warm air. Close boot, night temperature falls warm air contracts and moisture drops out (like rain). This will occur especially if the boot is well sealed. I wondered why car sales forecourts often had all the doors and boots of vehicles open all day. I mention this as I've had the same water problem and have soaked the boot seal many times and no water ingress. On hot days I now open the boot last thing when the air has cooled down.
