Default Leaky boot syndrome again

I know this has been covered a lot before. But I came to sort my leaky book out again on my contemporary saloon. I have already replaced the rear light seals yet the boot still feels the need to wee itself.

So had a good look today and it seems that my boot is leaking from the boot rubber/seal. Looks like it's not meeting the underside of the boot at one point. Water pools near the hinges in those wells and then seeps over the seal. Anyone experienced that issue before and know where I can get a quality seal from?

Are you sure that's where the leak is as hard to spot with the boot lid down. Water can get under the seal though and if that's the case it can be removed the area cleaned and resealed before you fork out for another seal.

Why not fold the back seat forward and get inside the car with a torch then get someone outside to spray water over the boot lid and you should be able to see for definite where the leak is.

Check that the hinge point seams are not leaking as in this thread:-

Hi my spare wheel tray was full of water i too did the rear light seals but it made no difference, mine was leaking through the clips under the lower rear window trim. Search round i did find a thread on it somewhere and mine has been bone dry since i did this with silicone sealant.
Be careful though as if you break a clip under the trim there not replaceable but it details all this in the thread.
Good luck!

Mine was exactly the same. After doing the rear light seals silicone under the rear window seal sorted it.

There are air vents either side of the boot. Over the years the seals break down and water gets in.
The repair is simple but the hassle is removing the rear bumper. Once off you will see the air vents. About the size of your hand. Take off the vents and put a line of silicone around each one and pop back in. Little bit more silicone again once fitted just to make sure and you have a dry boot again.

Mate before you go down the boot seal route there are a couple of high entry points to look at.
1. The rear screen sits on plastic units which clip the screen surround. These are held in place by pins which protrude through to the top of the boot under the window. The felt seals under these clips fail all the time letting water through.

2. Being a facelift car they also suffer from the panel seam leaking that goes across the top of the boot gulley towards the rear window frame. For some reason mgr used less seam sealer on the facelifts in this area and over time it shrinks. This allows water into the top corner of the boot and it runs down the sides looking like its come from the light seals or trim clips

My money is on either/or/all the above

Mine leaked under the rear window too.

I prised up the seal and squirted WD 40 all along the clips.

Been dry now for well over 6 years.---
