Default CDT Auto, How to fix failed reverse lights

Dear all

I just repaired some failed reversing lights.

Symptoms:
I have never had the 'red light' by the auto box selector
Reversing lights suddenly failed

Investigation:
Corroded light cluster contacts on male cable end and female cluster ends
all bulbs working and in good condition
Fuse 23 intact

Method:
Replaced fuse 23 with spare from in car. No change.
Fully cleaned connections by abrasion and alcohol. No change.
Tested voltage to lights. Good 4.5 to 7V.
Did research and replaced Relay L4. No change.
Re-inspected fuse 23. Found to have corroded blade contacts. Replaced with brand new.
Lights working...and red light next to selector back!

TLDR: Conclusion
Check ALL voltages FIRST
then the fuse
replace with new
only regard a fuse as okay if it is pristine, even if intact

Hope that helps some folk.

Paul.
