Default Odd Breather Pipes ??

So I recently acquired a 180 Sports SE that was for sale on here and I’m addressing the bits and bobs that need doing on it.
One thing that I have found is a breather pipe, connected to a small valve which then goes to the inlet manifold behind the power VIS and then into the brake servo. The front End of this pipe goes over the throttle body and cruise bellow and disappears below the engine cover.
Upon removing the engine cover the hose is just bare and no connected to anything, but I believe it is supposed to go into the air box. There is an elbow piece missing on this one and no hole in the air box where it would have fitted.

Does anyone know why these additional breathers are in place? The car is an SE but doesn’t have traction control. My old T reg was a V6 auto and didn’t have this either.

So I think the air box fitted isn’t the original one, it’s had a major coolant leak too at some point too and the front bank alloy manifold is different to the one on my 190.

You are correct Alan, the airbox should have a hole for a plastic elbow that connects to your missing pipe!

Do you know what it is for? Any performance or operation loss with it being jammed under the acoustic cover?

I have had information on this given to me by a very knowledgable chap, he says that this pipe was introduced to boost vacuum as most auto drivers sit with their foot on the brake while stationary.

This pipe saves the vac system becoming starved.

Guilty as charged sometimes, (unless I realise my bad habit and select N and handbrake)
Now where would this wire into? Problem is, now I know it exists

Can you ask him how this is achieved please Andy? As I understand Canonite's description, the manifold chamber (partial vacuum at idle) is connected via a solenoid valve to atmospheric pressure at the air cleaner, so how exactly can vacuum be boosted?

I think the correct air box for your car is PHB000400 and is shown as the second type of air box on Rimmers and is presumably the one with the necessary elbow connection for this pipe. Rimmers description refers to "vacuum enhancer" for this air box.
