Default I've got a new bumper at last

Hi,
The last two days have worked out brilliantly for my old rover 75.
Yesterday it passed it's Mot with flying colours and today my new bumper arrived Courtesy of member KeithA.
It's the right colour and in perfect condition ,and to top it off I managed to get it shipped from the London area all the way to wales for free. After pulling a few strings I was lucky to have a works van in the area to pick it up. I certainly got some strange looks tonight walking through town carrying a bumper home :-) :-)
,This weekend I'm going to get it fitted and was just wondering which way do I pull it off the body work once all the screws are removed ( ,It seems to be snapped into the rear quarter panels) do you just simply pull the bumper out towards you at right angles from the quarter panels to release it.
Once this is sorted the car will look pretty much perfect cosmetic wise ,and touch wood the idiotic drivers will respect my pride and joy and not damage it again.
All the very best and a big thankyou to KeithA for helping me out ! :-)

Once you have removed ALL of the various screws a sharp tug away from the car is all you should need...IF it is a front bumper it is advisable to place masking tape onto the front wing above where the bumper join is,This protects the front wing should the bumper spring back..........Just re-read your post and it is a rear bumper you have...It is the same a sharp tug from the wheel end edge should do the trick..

Hi John. It would be a good idea to have someone just to hold the one end that you have pulled out from the fixings, with a bit of a tug, so that it does not scratch the wing when you pull the other end away from the fixings.. I put some old carpet on the floor to rest it on.When refitting, I always hold the side of the bumper, and slightly hold it at an angle so that edges that fit into the bracket fixings clip in easily. It requires a bit of force, a good bump with the palm of your hand to fit back in. Easy once you have done it.Good luck finding a good bumper to replace the one damaged.

Thanks both for your advice and words of wisdom. I shall attempt it this coming weekend if the rain holds off.. It doesn't really matter if the old bumper gets damaged whilst removing it, because it's only going to be recycled. Once it's off I will be pretty confident on fitting the new one. Hopefully it will all run smoothly :-) :-)

Teamwork, brilliant! well done guys.

Masking tape over the edge of the wings is a must, you don't want to be scratching that beautiful paint.

That's a good point Dallas. I may use a couple of towels along the leading edge to protect it. Really looking forward to tackling this job. Whilst the bumper is off ,I think I will give the underside of the area a good wax oiling. I might as well seeing it's all apart. :-)
