Default Help! Loud tapping noise

Hi,

Yesterday I started to hear a tapping noise, sometimes loud and then it goes down and gets bad again.

Checked oil levels, all look ok, temperatures ok, water level ok. Noticed when I turn steering it gets loud.
This morning I checked all oil levels, power steering fluid looks low, topped up, but the noise is still their. Really loud when I started and then went down, but still there.

I will get it looked at by the garage tomorrow.

My guess is power steering pump gone, upon search there are several types. Which one?

Could it be the turbo?

Please help

Could be almost anything Yusuf. Where does the noise come from, high up, low down, does it alter with revs, is it worse when cold or hot, we really need a bit more info. If you could post a small video on Youtube it could be tremendously helpful.

Check the two belts for areas with no vee's left.

The vibration wiggles the idler. It makes serious-sounding noises..

If it is irregular and low pitched I would start with drop links and front suspension bushes.

When it is noisy lift the bonnet and have a listen to pinpoint where it is coming from.

Any clattering from the belt area i.e. the offside front inner wing then it could be the crank pulley, or even the water pump.

Get the garage to whip the belts off & check all the pulleys for roughness and play.
