Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock
For those of you who are fans of Joe Satriani (and I know there are a few of you) you might be interested in this series of podcasts that give an insight into the inspiration behind each song on his latest album. Don't worry about them being called podcasts - so long as you have QuickTime installed you can view them straight from your browser.... Enjoy!

I often wonder what would have been the outcome if Satch had remained as a permanent member of Deep Purple when Blackmore left to do his 'hey nonny nonny' stuff....
I have the dual disc of Gillan's Inn and on the DVD side there's a clip of Satch laying down a solo on one of the tracks. He just busks it and it's superlative... Thanks for the headsup on the podcasts BTW.

In my opinion, Joe going solo and writing and recording his own stuff was the best move he made. I think if he had remained in a band then his work might not have had the opportunity to flourish and develop in the way that it has over the course of him being a solo artist. His latest album sounds absolutely superb and is a testament to how great a guitar player and musician he is.
