Great thread!
As someone whose DIY skills don't even stretch to replacing the air filter, I bow down to your mechanical skills! You must know just about every nut and bolt by now!

What an excellent series of good colour photos. Pictures really do bring words to life. Much inspiration for myself and others. I'm planning on electroplating/de-rusting experiments at some point.
I also think we learn so much from mistakes or just bad luck which is like a kick in the teeth until you arrive at a work around. Well done on the helicoil solution. I did a little fist pump on your behalf. Never forget every big job is a series of smaller ones. You're proving all that in spades, especially to yourself, which is where self- confidence grows. Arctic has posted a few (just a few) great photos, so his interest is a definite compliment too. Keep up the fine work. |

Excellent Work
HI Andrew.
Your work is next to none that i can see, i only wish i had the room to do what you are doing with your car, a full strip down and re-fit, the end product will be a car that is as good if not better than when it left the factory, i know it adds extra time to the work but please do keep adding those photo's they can tell you more than words do sometimes; I really respect how clean your work is, the knowledge you will gain and be able to pass on through this work will be invaluable, thank you once again keep up the great work Arctic.

Great to see you making such good progress. Wish the engine in mine was that shiny! Must be a good feeling to have the engine back in. Great work and more nice pics too.

That looks brilliant, I wouldn't have chosen the clutch master cylinder you have fitted personally, having driven an ultra low mileage 1800T tourer with one fitted, it made the clutch unbearably heavy.
I hope this was simply a one off, but the progress you are making is astounding, and the attention to detail amazing !! Looking forward to the next installment Chris |

It may be due to the use of brake pipe to connect, and the smaller internal bore as compared to the original. In any event, if it turns out to be the case, it can be retrofitted with the original type easily enough. |

Great read as usual! Can't wait to read "the final chapter" before this car gets back on the road (although you might consider not putting it back on the road to keep it in this better than new condition )
As always: kudos to you, Sir, for undertaking this project and keeping us informed about it!

I thought my Lagoon was clean, but this is on a whole different level . Amazing attention to detail - can't wait to see it all back together

Of course there is a final chapter to this story! That's when you are behind the "wheel" with a huge big grin on your face knowing you've done the unthinkable That doesn't stop you to be sure but that grin will never disappear
