Default Car buff quiz

A bit of waffle first.
In the last couple of weeks I have gotten my hands on Minis, Autos, Manuals and Electric, BMW X3, Range Rover HSE, Vogue and Velar, various Renaults, Honda Civic Type R and non type R, a few Mercedes, rolls Royce and Bentleys. The Rolls just glide over sunken parts of the road where other cars are quite uncomfortable.

Anyway.
Yesterday I was delighted to get my hands on a late Gazelle.
What make is a Gazelle?

A real shock to drive a car with no power steering but I grinned from ear to ear.

'twas a Singer - sort of up market version of a Hillman Minx, but not quite as sporty as a Sunbeam

And the Sunbeam version was the Rapier, the range including a beautiful Rapier convertible....

I had the Rootes' equivalent (?) - Humber Sceptre. An early one, a lovely car, manual and with overdrive no less! Typical colours, blue and cream plus twin headlights. Unfortunately, it was stolen (I lived in Basildon then, no reflection). Even had a starting handle for when the limp battery gasped a bit.

One of the first cars my brother bought was a Singer Gazelle. Cost him around £30 if I recall. He spent some time "doing it up" before trying to sell it to me (I was 15 at the time!) telling me "it just needs the tappetts doing, it's easy" .

I was far from convinced of this, so declined his generous offer and the car was scrapped. I can't remember if it ever got driven on the open road - I think it may have made it once or twice . Lovely car though.

Ahh yes, a Singer Gazelle. Worked on so many Singers, Sunbeams, Humbers, Hillmans etc etc & I love them all.

Almost bought a Humber Sceptre a couple of years ago but resisted temptation!

Saw a beautifully restored Rapier H120 Fastback a couple of years ago at Bristol Classic Car Show (Shepton Mallet).
