Clutch pedal going to the floor
I recently had a new master cylinder fitted but today the pedal went straight to the floor, after pulling it up and pumping pedal a few times the clutch worked again and got me home okay. Any suggestions would be helpful.

your slave may have failed, your master may have failed.
check around the master cylinder for fluid in case it is leaking there. remove master cylinder cap and condom and see how much fluid is there. look under car for signs of dripping under bell housing. if no leaks and master has fluid in it then an internal seal may have failed allowing fluid to bypass the seal and remain in the master instead of being pushed along the hydraulic pipe towards the slave cylinder. You will have to carry out the above checks as it is a process of elimination macafee2 |

As it worked after a few pumps it's probably not the slave cylinder because if this has failed the clutch won't work at all.
Sounds like a duff master cylinder. ( Leaking seal. ) |
