Do we know why we have a delay to May / June now?
Originally the talk was for the new arms to be available in January. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Indian arms might serve a purpose for some depending on how far gone the arms are that they will replace and the ability and willingness of a buyer to fettle any problems with them but to the best of my understanding they have not been tested like the originals. It was disconcerting to read on a thread of not too long ago of a failed arm where the failure was suspected to be structural rather than corrosion because of the very short time it had been fitted - 1 to 2 years I believe but I might be mistaken. I think that the Chinese arms are the best available on the market atm. The 2 Chinese auto comps who were competing with their 75/ZT equivalents were forced to merge by the Chinese government and they were still making those equivalents until 4/5 years ago. There was an export market too in at least 2 countries that I know of and I personally would doubt that any tooling for the arms was scrapped given that many of the cars will be barely out of warranty - not to mention the Chinese ethos to maximise any value and to repurpose where possible. Given the cost of the tooling and the diminishing market for the arms is it really likely that any arms originating from China will be made on anything other than the original tooling sent from the UK and that tooling is all that exists not withstanding the poor Indian copy? The new arms you mention sound great but new tooling I would be sceptical of for the reasons I've given. Xpart will be the supplier but who will be making them ... where are they coming from? My suspicion would be China were the trusted tooling is known to exist. If India then to correct one of the known problems with its arms would yet another set of tooling have not had to be made? Not sure that the cost could be justified and it will be interesting to see how the price pans out. Last edited by WillyHeckaslike; 28th January 2020 at 13:24.. |

Would be good to have a name for these news ones, or at least a country of origin to prevent confusion. DMGRS initially described their XPart arms as the latest, but then we later heard they meant Indian ones. Funny how the information we get comes from an owner (MarinaBrian) rather than XPart or any of their suppliers.
Still an email from Mat this morning calmed things down a bit and hopefully my SAIC (MG) arms and other bits should be with me soon. Regards |

Hello there,
I agree the information has been quite sporadic and rather confusion - we're also sometimes struggling to get straight answers, but it's excellent to hear that Brian is getting the vital information we all need to know. Another quick update for everyone - the arms in this batch are due with us tomorrow, and will be on the way immediately after. For anyone wanting to hold off for delivery within the next batch, we're also including a free Fitting Kit by way of apology (one per arm purchased).

Howard. I don’t know where you bank, but the interest I would have earned on a damn site more filthy lucre than what I have underpinned my order with DMGRS for the arms, I would not be able to buy a box of matches. Not saying what I have spent with Matt does not matter, but please keep things in perspective, like Brian has suggested.

I started this thread because of uncertainty. DMGRS stated that the XPart arms were identical with only differences in the spot welds and finish and were of the latest kind. With memories of the Mr.Kipling test and uncertainty what the “latest” meant, I wanted to know the opinions of others as I was unsure whether to proceed or not. As it turned out we later learned that these “latest” arms were the Indian ones. I’m not that desperate, and wouldn’t fit one even if it were free. Still Mats has sorted me out, I’ve been promised a matching pair of SAIC (MG) arms and have received notification that they are now on their way to me, so all is well. Regards |

I mostly reside in the General section - with this being in Technical Help, I didn't see it until I replied. Sorry about that

I'm sure most would rather than just wait than faffing around with refunds then re-collecting for less than the price of a plastic bag these days We're giving away a fitting kit usually costing £6.20 per side (we're including two in orders of pairs) for the wait - a much better return Lots of packing late into last night and continuing this morning - orders should start to arrive with people in the next day or so. Again, our apologies for the mix up - we're throwing in a free fitting kit to anyone moving to the next SAIC delivery in May / June.
