O rings done, teeny whiff of smoke left...
Afternoon all.
Done my 1st job on my 75 CDTI, O rings! Im awarding myself man points for that. Took it for a run up street (literally 0.1 of a mile), Held the revs at 3k when parked and a whiff of smoke came out of exhaust. As opposed to the chernobyl type cloud that was previous. I take it this is residue of oil from the intercooler as there was a puddle in there!. Also, the previous owner decised to use leccy tape rather than O rings........ So an improvement none the less. All the best,Rob |

Hi Rob,
I did the self-same thing this week and am in the same situation as you. I replaced the intercooler and o-rings (the replacement intercooler had oil inside it, just like yours) and although I'm not getting the same smoke screen as before, there's a tiny whisp of smoke still. I'm taking the car on a long run soon and hope that this will clear any residual smoke. It might take a while though! Good luck :-) |
