Default Mg zs

Well, off to the local(ish) MG dealer shortly to go have a look at the new ZS.

Have decided that the wife's Freelander, whilst a brilliant motor, is just too expensive to run now that she works further away. With the car tax, insurance and fuel (being the 2.5V6 it sounds lovely, but also loves the fuel!)

Going to look the auto ZS with the 1ltr turbo lump, and of course it has to be the top of the range (yes dear ). Everything on paper looks fine, but if we're spending that sort of money, I want to see it in the flesh & take it for a test drive.....

Anyone on here got one? and if so, what's your honest opinion?

The local dealer near me who I get on very well with have sold quite a few now and have not had any problems at all with them there concern is that they wont be able to keep up with the demand of the sales

If you like it when you have driven one and want to buy one im sure I can get you a good price on one if you want me to

Well I have to say that I am very impressed with the ZS.

Drove down to Kerridges of Needham Market as they are the closest MG dealer to me, and took out a ZS Auto for a spin.

For a 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo engine, it's got plenty of go. Auto box is smooth and a pleasure to drive, 30 to 60 is very impressive, and it's very quiet and comfortable too.

Lots of toys to play with (it was the top of the range) including reversing sensors and re-view camera, touch screen with navigation and bluetooth connectivity.

And, yes, we will be ordering one end of January/February time. Currently it's about a 6-12 week lead time depending on specification.

Don't worry, the 75 will be staying, it's the Freelander that will be going

Are they bigger then the GS? How does it compare in size to say a Land Dover or Kia Sorento? I’ve just read that they are only 110bhp? Doesn’t seem a lot for a big lump of metal like it...

Wonder how long a 1.0 turbo engine will last pulling the weight about. I see lots of makers now using small engines in big cars.

Well all I can say is that from 30 to 60 it took off like a rocket. It felt as if it had plenty of power, but that could also be how the gearing on the auto box. As far as size wise, it's on par with our Freelander. Don't forget that it only has an unladen weight of around 1250 kilos, and that the 75 CDT came in 116bhp and weighed more

From what I can find out, the engine was a design collaboration with SAIG and GM. As far as wondering how long will it last, the car comes with a full 7 years manufacturer warranty, so any issues will be sorted by MG. - as above the car has an unladen weight of 1250(ish) kilos, so not that heavy in reality.
