Rear exhaust section heat shield
Does anyone have the part number for the rear-most section of heat shield that covers the pipe up to the silencer?
Investigating a slight scraping noise from underneath earlier and it looks like mine has made a bid for freedom due to electrolytic corrosion through the fixing bolts. In the interim I may be able to make up larger washers to cover where they've pulled through but thought I'd check on Rimmers and I think it's item 6 on the heat shield page but very unhelpfully they only list what they stock, which really is no help. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID999756 I've looked underneath and it can't fall off so will have to wait until I can get it on a set of lifts to investigate properly. My stainless "penny washers" have worked well. (wish they were still a penny!)

My friend, who works in an exhaust shop, swears by milk bottle caps. The plastic ones. Not sure if he'd do that to a customers car or not but there you go.
Also saw a video on YouTube where someone used the lid off a tin can! |

I too use SS penny washers but good tip, using HDPE might save continued electolytic corrosion between the SS and the aluminium shield |

I hope the heat shield you want is WEB 101512, if not then I've bought the wrong one. I got it from Rimmers a couple of weeks ago. I phoned and described what I thought I wanted and now I have it. I don't think it was cheap.....
Can't see it on the Website.. Pete |
