Chatting with Andy Willi he said in doing nearly 1200 clutches on our cars he had only ever seen a couple of failed DMF's.

I have sucked out the fluid in the master and out came some dirt, plunger removed cleaned and put back and system bled, not sure how well so I will see how it goes

Make one of these from an old slave cylinder, they are great for bleeding the master through before connecting it to your new slave.

The last thing you want is any crud going into the fresh slave cyl.

I'm sure I've seen something like that before, I hope the patent holder of the Frabtel Master cylinder Bleedomatic 2000 (TM) was consulted

Blast, I have bits like that but had forgotten about them for just such a job. I may have been in a bit of a panic, the car was blocking in my caravan
and I was in a hurry to get the car back together.
