Onto the interior, the door cards have parted company on the rear because of the inner door glass seals having burst, and the door pull handle on the driver's side has a broken spring, and the oval escutcheon on the nearside handle has parted company.

All in all I've had enough really, I'm taking myself out tomorrow to look at a van, and a new car for the wife, and scrapping both the ZT and the 75, the lack of decent parts for these cars and the general build quality issues are depressing.

I'm looking forward to clearing out the accumulated junk from the house required just to keep these old bangers on the road.

Totally fed up, if there is anything anyone wants off them before they go, let me know.

Brian
You sound depressed Brian! Time for a holiday in the sun!

Btw, if you've still got that beautifully painted rear sub-frame, and a tank strap, I'm your number one customer!

Know the feeling Bri - I've got a shedload of jobs to do to keep ours going, just waiting for the warmer weather.

The thought of starting afresh with a brace of newer cars can be appealing, and as you say it would free up a lot of garage space that houses all the old bits that may come in handy one day.

Trouble is I'm far too tight to spend big money on replacement motors, so for me it's better the devils I know.

Did a 200 mile round trip today and everything worked! After all the time and money spent it’s about NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- time as well!
These cars are a joy to drive when they work like their supposed to and I got 38.6 mpg!!!!!!! Might not seem much to most but I’ve never been able to get more than 34mpg in all the years I’ve owned it.

The replacement pump cartridge arrived today, lobbed it back in the pump housing and chucked it in the tank, it really is a pain in the bottom type of job!

Jacked it up to try and find the cause of the nearside clonk.

Found the lower part of the JATCO gearbox soaked in fluid. Not engine oil but no idea where it's coming from. The lower half of the gearbox front cover is very rusty though, maybe through a hole in that?

On Wednesday I took a trip up Derby way to have a new clutch fitted by a chap up there.
The clutch plates were in good condition, the slave had a rumble every time the pedal was pressed, when it was touched by the fitter in the bell housing it fell apart, phew is all I can say.
The flywheel had no noticeable play in it despite having 161000 on the clock.

A lovely light clutch now so one happy chappy.

I'd rather change a petrol pump anyday, as you know, diesel hangs about everywhere!
