Default ABS Problem

I cant find my original post but here goes,

Having the ABS light come on after driving a short distance and getting various suggestions on here I removed both rear Brakes/Discs and wheel bearings cleaned up the back plates which were both very rusty, removed a lot of crud and blew out with an air line, cleaned the face of the bearing and re-assembled both sides. Did the static test which was OK and went for a drive,Within a 1/4 of a mile the ABS light came back on...BUT NOW when you turn the ignition on it fails the static test and the ABS light remains on,

If it is not the rears then it can only be the Front N/S as The speedo works fine.

Unless there are any more suggestions

Any help appreciated

The last time I had one that failed the static test when I plugged my T4 in I got valve relay fault at the ABS module itself
Replaced it and the job was done

If it passed the static test before you worked on the rears and doesn’t now, doesn’t that suggest it is still the rear ones that are problematic?

I tried the same on my car, chiselled the rust away and blew clean, but Toaf told me there was still a problem with the rear sensor (or bearing) ended up fitting new backplates (from DMGRS), a new pattern sensor and a new bearing before the problem disappeared. But not totally as occasionally I still get a ABS warning, identified as the same rear sensor by Toaf, will either fit a genuine sensor or shave the existing pattern sensor when the weather gets warmer.

Regards

The valve relay was located in the ABS module itself which is attached to the ABS pump, unfortunately the relay can’t be replaced as such it’s a case of replacing the module if that is where the fault lies

How do you check it with TOAF ? in simple terms as I have TOAF I think, but never used it

With your ODB cable in place. Open Toaf on your computer, press connect, it will then say "connect successful" - select engine type, select scan car then clear all DTCs, check by selecting ABS that nothing comes up, if it does clear again. Drive up the road about 100m and repeat the scan, if something appears then it should give you clear information something like “ABS rear right sensor malfunction”.

Regards
