Cool Huge thanks to P Nut

Jack has been teaching my daughter to drive an automatic car.
She had been learning on and off on visits home from uni, in a manual, for a little over a year, but wasnt really enjoying it or progressing, and as we have run autos for last 3 years, I asked if she would prefer to learn in an auto. Yes was the answer, so I dropped Jack a pm, knowing from his sig, that he was an instructor, asking if he knew any auto instructors. As it happens, he is one, so introductions done ,he took her out for a try out. She felt much better with an auto, so continued, and through Jack's help, passed first attempt yesterday, after less than 2 months learning with him. :. So if anyone north east based has a relative who wants to take auto lessons, see Jack. Top bloke.

Congrats to your daughter and thumbs up for Jack.

Is it still the same rule if you pass in an Auto you can not drive a manual car, but if you pass in a manual car you can drive an Auto, never really understood that rule to be honest.

Many thanks Rich for the kind words!

She did great and it was well deserved, clearly intelligent and with common sense, she was a pleasure to teach.

Yes Arctic, if you pass on an auto you can only drive autos. That itself is becoming less of an issue as electric cars become the norm.

My other half gave up learning to drive. She'd have a couple of lessons, getting on fine til the instructor criticised her, "don't like him any more!". OK, new instructor . . . . same scenario, fine til he criticised her. Don't know how many times that happened and every time she started with another instructor she took a step back while he assessed her. Took her out in our car once, never again, only time I've ever sworn at her! My father was an ex traffic police driver, he always refused to give friends and family lessons, wish I'd followed that rule! She had a few lessons in an auto, found that easier but the idea just fizzled out, after all she had muggins to chauffeur her around.

Well done to your daughter Rich. My daughter had to learn to drive in her own car which was an auto due to a lack of instructors with autos locally.

It's on a massive rise around here, when I started I was one of a handful, now there's dozens, although we're all absolutely jammed for work.
