To get the sound that i think you are looking for you need a cat back stainless steel no middle or back boxes . Its going to be loud but the sound will all depend on the engine . If its going on a 260 congratulations you have got what you want . If its going on a V6 its still going to sound very nice . If funds are a little tight just go and buy a sports backbox , they can be picked up for £50 to £80 which is a cheaper option considering a ss system will cost you £400 and up. I hope this helps .

There’s only one I know of that sounds like the lumpy tick over and he changed the cams which is the only way to achieve that sound, very expensive thing to do

Good grief Les, that sounds like a skeleton having a lamb shank in a biscuit tin

Awful

I have a 2004 260 in standard form with 39750 miles on the clock. Any suggestions though I have no intentions of changing aspects of the engine?

No matter what you do you’ll never get that Mustang sound, not even close with X Powers or Zeros

I was only asking if it’s what he’s after, don’t see anybody else contributing. It’s the nearest I’ve heard to a Mustang on idle but it loses it being revved

That sounds fabulous to me. Love that irregular tickover of the old American muscle cars. Wonder if you can do it with a V6?
