Locked car not responding to fob
Tried the spare, that doesn't work either. Could it be a wet ECU? The red light on the dash is regularly flashing as per usual.

Well that's interesting. The same thing is happening to our Viva and our neighbour's Corsa. And our wireless central heating thermostat stopped communicating with the receiver. They all work on 433mhz.

It sounds like something is blocking the signal, but what?

Very interesting and something others have reported from time to time, ie that the central locking won't work in a particular location.
Identifying the source of interference isn't going to be easy as it's a common frequency for baby monitors, garage door openers and like you've said central heating control. Anything you or immediate neighbours have installed recently? A device like this might help: https://www.rfwireless-world.com/App...gth-Meter.html You could try shielding the remote with a large section of aluminium foil behind it while you press as near to the window as possible. If that doesn't work then try from the opposite side. Good luck |

Am I right in thinking I'll be able to unlock using the key in the driver door but the car will remain immobilised? And where is the receiver, as I'm thinking tinfoil and get as close to it as possible once I'm in the car?
(fortunately the Viva isn't locked, which isn't a problem around here)

Nope - the key will both open and start the car. The immobilisation is unlocked by a separate chip in the fob totally independent of the locking/unlocking.

I believe your 2005 receiver is up near the dashboard, on the earlier cars it was between the seats but later moved to improve reception.

Ah, that's a relief. Maybe I was thinking of my Sterling.

Well, after driving around a bit and stopping and trying the fob in different locations nearby I figured out what it was.
My weatherstation.

Unlucky that they are on the same frequency.
Mrs Noc complained the central locking had packed up when parking up on the drive a few years ago, so I went out to have a look and found I couldn't get into my car either, and the neighbour couldn't get into his. No idea what caused it as the problem disappeared after a couple of hours and never came back. |
