Has anybody had their gallbladder removed?
Only asking as I am suffering every month or so now with gallstones, the pain is severe, I have been offered surgery to have it removed but am reluctant to. Pain stops you from doing anything including sleep and can last up to 2 days until the stone is passed, only thing that takes the pain away are strong prescription painkillers that just render me on the verge of knowing if there are people around me. Used to happen every 6 month or so , but the frequency is becoming a problem. I am aware of the dietary restrictions but sometimes cream in my coffee can set it off.
So, anybody had it removed? consequences etc? Isn't getting old great

Aye, told by the specialist that many people have them with no ill effects and never know about it.

They told me that too, very reassuring. Entirely depends how big the stones get apparently. What sort of surgery are they offering, keyhole or the old chop you in two?

MY wife's cousin had his out last year aged 48, due to stones was in very bad pain when he came back of holls, he thought he was going to kick the bucket at any time and rushed to ysbyty and they removed it (G bladder) and he seams to be ok, well he;s up the club every sunday drinking, so must be.

My Mother had her gall bladder removed when she was about 40 years old. I don't remember any ill effects from it though she couldn't tolerate a lot of very fatty food afterwards (or before, now I think about it). She made nearly 90 and died from completely unrelated reasons, so I guess it's not that essential.

Has anybody had their gallbladder removed?
Hi stocktake. i have a polyp in my bladder and now they have just found gallstones. surgeon said he could remove the bladder easy enough but anethetist says i would probably die on the table due to having a heart condition and being a heavy smoker. once polyp is to large then covers bile duct i will be rushed in for emergency op. so when that day comes i know it will be my last. sorry if ive scared you but if your otherwise healthy then the op will be no problem.
regards Billy

Gall bladder ops these days are like Stoketake and VIS Motors. Have a friend who does them nearly every day. As long as your basic physical state is okay then have it done. Why have all the bother |
