Default It should be easy

When I had my mk1 I could do the headlight bulb in 20 minutes, that was a long time ago, I think I have lost the ability to do anything right!

The bulb went last week on my facelift 75, drivers side dipped. I got some Osram Extreme & thought it should be a 5 minute job. I got the inspection cover off & the old bulb out without a problem, the new bulb was pushed in but I cannot get the bayonet to catch on the lugs. Perhaps it's because I am using my left hand which is pretty useless. Can I put a tiny bit of grease on it or will the heat cause problems?

Is there a knack to it, or perhaps I am missing something?

So I haven't done it as the light went so I have to return to it tomorrow. It might be easier just to take the bumper off

Wrong set up Jon! Its a 2005 model with projectors, bulb holder is a bayonet fit.

Have a read at this, about projector bulb changing.

This is the Mk2 fitting.

I find the bayonet clips extremely tight on mine. I guess a very thin smear of grease or Vaseline on the bulbholder lugs would help.

I wonder whether the copper grease as used on spark plug fitment might be OK - it may provide better electrical contact and is also meant to put up with high temperatures? Just a thought....
