2.0 CDT Rattle over 3000rpm when accelerating hard
Hello,
My W reg 2.0 CDT saloon has a rattle/rasping sound when accelerating hard over 3000 rpm, can't hear it when window closed but noticeable when open. Turbo problem ? |

cdt rattle
Hi what makes you think it's coming from the turbo? which end of the car is the rattle coming from? my cdt rattles at 1600rpm and only at this revs, after miles and miles of getting my wife to drive around while I roll around in the boot, I can only pin point it to the baffles in the exhuast tailbox.

Engine has done 100000 miles, thought it might be turbo as it only happens above 3000 miles, everything else works ok

Rattle
Could be time to have a look underneath, does it only happen under hard acceleration? I think you'd be unlucky if it's a turbo and I think it'd make itself known alot more than that, my car has now done over 185k and still pulls like a train, look a bang about for loose things before you start digging deeply into your pockets....Mike

Check the exhaust downpipe flexible section and the security of the heatshield on the undertray.
