Leaving aside the economic arguements I have one very simple question for the Remainer's.
Please explain to me how the current levels of net EU migration are sustainable on a tiny island like the UK?The road and transport networks are at breaking point, housing is at a premium,British workers are being undercut in the workplace and there is now even talk of it taking up to three weeks for a doctors appointment. Yes we need EU immigration but on a scale we can both control and be selective of.This has nothing to do with racism just pure common sense.

Democracy in action ?
Consider these figures .... Just over half of the people who voted , voted 'out '. Total number of actual voters was 70% of those eligble (70% turnout) So half of this 70% , I.E. 35% of the total eligble voters voted 'out'. So 65% of the eligible voters did not vote for 'OUT'.. Roughly only one third of the eligble voters wanted us out , but we keep hearing ' the country voted for us to get out ' . Did they ? And that is democracy in action. The goverment should have required at least a 60% majority before any action could be considered . Is everyone happy now ? |

You're right, but the reality is,
65% didn't vote 'in' either. Last edited by shasbat3; 5th January 2017 at 23:10.. |

The only votes that mattered were the one's cast and the majority of those people made their wishes very clear. And yes we are very happy now.

That is, after all, exactly what you're saying isn't it? It's not a trick question, would you have expected the result to be accepted if the remain side had won? |

Tough luck if a question is put to a vote, you choose not to use your vote and then disagree with the outcome sustained by those that did make a choice. Maybe the answer is compulsory voting (our mates in Oz have that, but is it democratic?). Mind you their secondary voting system rarely comes up with a choice of strong goverment that lasts more than a year or so before they dither to a standstill and go back to the country for some new whizzes to con the electorate with. |

As previously published by Admin....
"No more politics! Under club rules, I am now closing this debate 15. There is no room on this forum for sexism, racism or religious bigotry. In addition your political views are yours, and yours alone. Other forums exist for the purpose of debating this topic. You may not use these forums to promote political beliefs or to encourage or persuade others to conform to your views. Criticism or review of Government activities is however permitted, but only if done in a non-abusive and polite manner. We all have our own opinions, but we are a car club not a political debating society. There are many folk in this club who come on here for valuable information on the maintenance of their vehicles, and others who enjoy the pleasant social interaction of friends they have met through the club. Threads like this quite frankly put a lot of people off. If you want to talk politics please do it elsewhere. I will instruct the moderation team to close any further threads on politics for the foreseeable future. Let's keep the club focused on what it is here for folks. Thank you". We do not need this on here, there are innumberable other fora available to vent your political views.... Thread closed.
