Recently saw the 'Dirty Dozen ' again . Some good humour, especially Ernest Borgnine , What a face , full of expression . Pity such humour is combined with the tragic effects of war .

There were quite a few US films with a theme of humour mixed with a war background around that period.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I second The Battle of Britain....terrific film

"Put that cigarette out, can't you smell gas?"
"Don't you yell at me Mr Warwick!"

Or

"What if your control lines had been damaged? You would have been spread over the field like strawberry jam. Never again! Clear!"

And yes, I have watched it too often.

Great film and historically quite accurate for it's time..

This actually happened but with a different person Air Commodore Dame Felicity Peake

The hanger that was blown up was one of 4 surviving hangers at RAF Duxford the three that are now left are part of IWM Duxford which is well worth a visit as it has probably the best WW2 collections of vehicles and aircraft as well as many more modern exhibits.
Some pics from my last visit there if anyone is interested https://www.facebook.com/pete.white.9809/media_set?set=a.817046348329692.1073741826.1000007 30044606&type=3

At the time of filming the aircraft brought in for the film made it the 35th largest air force in the world at the time

Yup i've watched it far too many times too

Thanks to Hamish, I was able to watch mock dog-fights all around my town of Newmarket, and it became the "must watch" thing to do after school.

Some pictures from my last visit to IWM Duxford. An anuual pilgrimage for me.
On this occasion I met very briefly Carolyn Grace owner of the Grace Spitfire. Remarkable lady and a remarkable aircraft. Some pictures of her and her Spitfire in album
